PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress drop in battery capacity and the cyclic characteristics resulting from hard filling or finer particles. SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material consists of a granular composition expressed by the formula LiXMO2, where M represents one or more of transition metals, and prepared by baking two sorts or more of starting materials having different mean particle sizes. To manufacture this granular composition, at least one sort of a powder of lithium compound, salt of transition metal, oxide of transition metal and hydroxide of transition metal are used as the starting materials, which are subjected to a baking process. Therein two sorts or more of starting materials having different mean particle sizes are mixed and used. |
