PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve white image quality by providing a second barrier formed to have different width for each discharge cell, placed between a pair of maintaining electrodes in parallel with them to realize respective red, green, and blue color. SOLUTION: Second barriers 221, 222, 223 are formed in every interval between first maintaining electrodes 131, 131' and second maintaining electrodes 132, 132' to be paralleled with the electrodes. The second barrier 221 is formed to have a prescribed width to an discharge cell realizing green color, the second barrier 222 is formed to have narrower width than that of the second barrier 221 to an electric cell realizing red color, and the second barrier 223 is formed to have narrower width than that of the second barrier 222 to an electric cell realizing blue color. An area of the discharge cell realizing green color is the narrowest and the area of the discharge cell realizing blue color is the widest, and the luminance ratio of green to red is slightly decreased, while that of blue to red is enhanced slightly. Imbalance of the luminance between green and blue is thereby solved, and purity of white is enhanced. |
