PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display panel having high luminance and superior light emitting efficiency. SOLUTION: Long-distance opposed AC discharge is performed between a display transparent electrode 6 of a front surface substrate 1 and a display scanning electrode 14 of a back surface substrate 2. A linear display transparent electrode is adopted for the front surface substrate 1. An insulated matrix form metallic plate 18 of a barrier rib member 3 is wired as a ground electrode (a grounding electrode). Phosphors are formed on four inner walls of a cell as a main discharge display 21 of the insulated matrix metallic plate 18 of the barrier rib member 3.
