PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce gradation data storage capacity for generating a gradation pattern for each of color components CMYK, to facilitate address change for deformation pattern formation, to increase changed varieties and to reduce the cost of a system for gradation processing. SOLUTION: In the case of performing gradation processing of image data obtained from a full color input image by using the gradation pattern of a look-up table of a memory 40, each of four pieces of image data of CMYK is subjected to gradation processing with a relatively different gradation pattern, in a form of selectively obtaining four or more gradation patterns from among the look-up table of one gradation pattern stored in the memory 40, by using address conversion 30 which selectively converts memory addresses x', y'/X' and y' read from the memory 40 into three or more kinds. Memory address conversion includes address shifting of horizontal and vertical scanning directions.
