PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible piezoelectric element of high sensitivity and reliability by providing an air layer, on at least one surface of a composite piezoelectric sheet and electrodes, and to manufacture the piezoelectric element using a simple manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A flexible piezoelectric element, composed of a composite piezoelectric sheet 3 containing a piezoelectric ceramic powder 2 mixed in a polymer matrix 1 and electrodes 4 disposed on both sides of the composite piezoelectric sheet 3, comprises an air layer 5 provided on at least one surface of the composite piezoelectric sheet 3 and the electrodes 4. Thus a flexible piezoelectric element of high sensitivity and reliability and the manufacturing method thereof can be provided.
