PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device constituted so as to detect the relative inclinations of an objective lens and a recording medium even without a separate tilt sensor. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a light source 35 for generating and emitting light, optical path converting means 50 for changing the advancing route of incident light, objective lens 70 for converging the incident light to a recording medium 30, main photodetector 81 for detecting an information signal and/or error signal by receiving light reflected from a recording layer 31 of the recording medium 30 and made incident through the objective lens 70 and the optical path converting means 50, and a tilt detecting means for detecting the tilt of the recording medium 30 by receiving light emitted from the light source 35 and reflected from the surface of a protecting layer 33 of the recording medium 30. Since such an optical pickup device detects the tilt of the recording medium 30 while using light emitted from the light source 35 of the optical pickup device and reflected from a surface 33a of the protecting layer 33 of the recording medium 30 even without the separate tilt sensor, the number of components is reduced in comparison with a conventional device and the structure is made compact as a result. |
