PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the intrusion of heat into a thermal switch from the outside at the time of performing switching the processes of two-stage of the cooling. SOLUTION: A thermal switch is composed of sections 11 (and 24) which mechanically operate physically correspondingly to the temperature change in an object to be cooled (supeconducting coil) 3 and the system is switched between a thermally connected state and a thermally disconnected state by the operation of the sections 11 (and 24). Since the two thermally joined states are changed by operating the sections 11 (and 24) which mechanically operate physically correspondingly to the temperature change in the object 3, the switch can make self-operating switching in conformity with the temperature state of the object 3 and a cooling system is not affected by the outside. The sections 11 (and 24) are made of a gas and a solid which expand and contract in accordance with thermal variation. The object 3 which specially dislikes the influence of the outside is a superconductor, particularly, a superconducting coil which changes to a superconducting state when cooled. The above-mentioned self- operating section is part of a system which is closed against the outside in a state where the system surrounds the object 3. |
