Compounds active at a novel site on receptor-operated calcium channels useful for treatment of neurological disorders

Compounds 54 to 73, 75 to 79, 81 to 98, 100 to 103, 105 to 109, 111, 114 to 139, 141 to 150 as depicted are used in the manufacture of a medicament for treating neurological disease or disorders. A compound of formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or complex thereof is also used in the manufacture of a medicament for treating neurological disease or disorders. In formula (I): each X is independently Br, Cl, F, I, CF3, alkyl, OH, O-alkyl or O-acyl; each R1 is independently H, alkyl or O-acyl; each R2 is independently H, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl or both R2's together are imino; R3 is H, methyl or ethyl; R is phenoxy optionally substituted with F, Cl, Br, I, CF3, alkyl, OH, OCF3, O-alkyl or O-acyl and m is 1 to 5 provided that: i) when X is para-fluoro, R4 is not meta-CF3 substituted phenoxy; ii) when X is H then R4 is substituted with meta fluoro, meta-chloro, meta-methyl, ortho-methyl, ortho-fluoro, ortho-chloro, ortho-OH or meta-OH.
