A reusable bait canister (10) has a hollow body member (12), an opening (18) for access to the bait, a closure member (16) supported by the body member (12) for movement between a closed position and an open position and spring means (24) to bias the closure member (16) to the open position. A corrodible link means (28) for connection between body member (12) and closure member (16), secures closure member (16) in the closed position against the bias of spring means (24). Corrodible link means (28) is adapted to corrode and break under the bias of spring means (24) after a predetermined time of immersion in seawater.
