PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the temperature drift of a vibratory gyroscope which uses a vibrator. SOLUTION: This vibratory gyroscope for detecting rotary angular velocities includes a vibrator 1A formed along a predetermined surface, a drive means for exciting vibration of the vibrator in a drive mode within the predetermined surface, and a detecting means for detecting the vibration in a detection mode within the predetermined surface. The vibrator has vibrating systems 3A, 3B, detection vibrating systems 4A, 4B, and a connection 2A for interconnecting the vibrating systems, and the drive vibrating systems and the detection vibrating systems have respective bent vibrating pieces 5A, 5B, 6A, 6B projecting from the connection. A spurious mode is excited in the vibrator to meet a relationship represented by the formula: 0.70×α<=Δf/Δfs<=1.30×a α=1.7a/b×(c/d)3/2 where Δf is the difference in natural resonant frequency between the vibration of the drive mode and the vibration of the detection mode; Δfs is the difference in natural resonant frequency between the drive mode and the spurious mode; (a) is the width of each bent vibrating in the detection vibrating system; b is the width of each bent vibrating piece in the drive vibrating system; c is the number of drive vibrating systems; and d is the number of detection vibrating systems. |
