PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium of high recording density, a small deformation amount and excellent characteristics. SOLUTION: This floppy disk is provided with at least a magnetic layer, a protective layer and a lubricant layer on both surfaces of a flexible supporting body substrate. In this method for manufacturing floppy disk, the film formation speed of a layer to be formed on a flexible supporting body by a vacuum film formation method is >=0.3 mm/second and <9.5 mm/second and at least one metal thin film layer of a material whose heat conductivity at 20 deg.C is <0.25 cal/cm.s.deg is formed right above the flexible supporting body.
