PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and appropriately detect the possibility that a lens is to be soiled and the possibility that a lens is soiled by providing an approach detection part detecting that a foreign matter approaches within a specified distance of a lens system. SOLUTION: A control part 52 allows a light emitting part 48 to emit light and a light receiving part 50 to receive the light. Then, a detection part 54 detects whether the light reaching the light receiving part 50 from the light emitting part 48 is intercepted by the foreign matter, that is, whether the foreign matter approaches within the specified distance of the lens system 12 according to whether the light from the light emitting part 48 is included in the light received by the light receiving part 50. In the case of detecting that the foreign matter approaches within the specified distance of the lens system 12, an information control part 56 allows a light emitting part for notification 60 to emit light and a sounding part for notification 62 to produce sound so as to inform a situation that the foreign matter approaches within the specified distance of the lens system 12. Thus, user's attention is effectively called to a situation that a user's finger may by put on the lens system 12.
