PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily prevent swelling of a battery jar, and to easily insert elements by providing ribs extending in the inserting direction to the battery jar in spacers arranged in laminating directional both side surfaces of the elements, and turning the ribs to the battery jar side. SOLUTION: Spacers 1 having ribs 2 extending in the inserting direction to a battery jar 7 are arranged in laminating directional both side surfaces of elements 3 to prevent swelling of the elements 3 themselves in the battery jar 7. The ribs 2 extending in the inserting direction of the spacers 1 to the battery jar 7 are oppositely arranged on an inner wall of the battery jar 7 on the outside of the elements 3 to facilitate insertion of the high pressing elements 3 into the battery jar 7. Next, the ribs are formed in the direction for the spacers 1 to cross the ribs 2 on the outside of the battery jar 7 of a surface for inserting the spacers 1 to effectively prevent reduction of pressure of the elements 3 by swelling of the battery jar 7. A large sealed lead-acid battery can be easily and inexpensively obtained in a small number of parts.
