PURPOSE: To simplify production processes and to obtain a double layered glass which is sealed at its peripheral edge and has excellent heat insulating performance by sealing the peripheral edge with a sealant consisting essentially of a specifically composed copolymer. CONSTITUTION: Two sheets of glass plates 1, 1' constituting the double layered glass 10 are arranged apart via a spacer 2 in such a manner that an intermediate layer 3 is formed between both. The spacer 2 is arranged slightly nearer the inner peripheral side than the end face of the double layered glass 10 in such a manner that a recessed part 6 is formed by the glass plates 1, 1' and the spacer 2 at the peripheral edge of the double layered glass 10. The sealant 4 consisting essentially of a copolymer of a compd. having a -NCO group and a compd. selected from a polyisobutylene, butyl rubber and polyvinylidene chloride is packed into the recessed part 6 to seal the peripheral edge of the double layered glass 10. As a result, the sealant 4 has the excellent adhesive power to the glass plates and the spacer and low hygroscopicity. Since the assembly of the double layered glass 10 by the sealant 4 alone is possible, the simplification of the production stages is possible. |
