PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a user able to efficiently check the erroneously read character of a recognized result relating to a character recognition device for turning a document image read by an image scanner to a processing object and recognizing characters provided in the document image. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a first recognition means 12 for recognizing the characters provided in the document image of the processing object corresponding to a stipulated recognition method, a second recognition means 15 for recognizing the characters provided in the document image of the processing object corresponding to a recognition method different from the recognition method used by the first recognition means 12, an extraction means 18 for extracting the non-matching part of the recognized result of the first recognition means 12 and the recognized result of the second recognition means 15 and an output means 20 for outputting the recognized result of the characters provided in the document image of the processing object while clearly indicating the non-matching part extracted by the extraction means 18.
