PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument capable of reducing reading errors. SOLUTION: A vernier 91A is provided peripherally in an inner peripheral surface of a thimble 61, and the thimble 61 comprises a light transmissive material. Second vernier digits 91C are also provided peripherally in an outer peripheral surface of the thimble 61, so that errors in reading a micrometer 1 can be reduced when measurements are made.
