The leather schoolbag comprises a base (2), a body (3), a cover (9) with a handle (10) and carrying straps (6). The cover with the carrying handle is integral with the body along the longitudinal face opposite the shoulder straps and fitted with means for closing along the other longitudinal face and transverse sides (3c). The cover has a top opening line over the whole length of the body rear longitudinal face. This is extended by two sloping lines (11e) on the transverse sides thus constituting a folding line (X-X').
