PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly exchange or share files even when the arrangement format of data on the disk of each OS(operating system) is unclear between plural computers operating with different types of OS. SOLUTION: In this data conversion system, extent information indicating the location of a file on a desk device 2 is extracted independently of a file system being a program in an OS 13 for managing the file by an extent extraction and conversion program interface part 12 operating as an application and an extent extraction and conversion program main processing part 14 operating as a device driver, and the extent information is switched in the device driver in response to an access request to the file so that the access to the device 2 can be executed.
