An isolated polypeptide molecule encoding a polypeptide selected from the group consisting of nucleotide fragments selected from SEQ ID 1. The sequence is homologous to motilin. The composition is useful either as diagnosis agents for measuring transit time or gastric emptying or as agents which increase transient time or gastric emptying of ingested substances.
