PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite phase-contrast plate giving a displayed image excellent in contrast when it is applied to a projection type liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: Plural phase-contrast plates 1 are laminated to obtain the composite phase-contrast plate 2. The outermost phase-contrast plate 11 has an antireflection layer 13 on an outer surface and a contact angle of the surface of the antireflection layer is advantageously >=80 deg.. The composite phase-contrast plate 2 may be stuck to a glass substrate 3 and disposed in a light path of the projection type liquid crystal display device. |
