PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support an image retrieval process of a database for images having nonverbal attribute information by to trial and error. SOLUTION: This system is provided with a database part 15 which stores image reference data for retrieving an image existing over the Internet, a browser 11 for catalog browsing which browses the image reference data stored in the part 15 in a catalog format, and a browser 16 for a catalog index which is provided on the part 15 side, retrieves prescribed image reference data from the part 15 according to a request from the browser 11, also stores the prescribed image reference data as necessary and also transfers the retrieved image reference data to the browser 11.
