PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain liquid crystal elements with excellent manufacturing yield by forming scribe lines for individually dividing the liquid crystal elements on substrates making a pair and changing the depth of grooves for the scribe lines of the substrates. SOLUTION: Plural liquid crystal elements 1 are laid out on the substrates 2, 3 making a pair, and a driver circuit part is formed on one side substrate 2 at every liquid crystal element 1. Since plural liquid crystal elements 1 laid out on the substrates 2, 3 are separated to a piece shape from a liquid crystal panel after completion, the scribe lines 4x, 4y, 5x, 5y for individually dividing the liquid crystal element 1 are formed on the rear surfaces of a TFT substrate 2 and a counter substrate 3 along the periphery of the liquid crystal elements 1. Then, the depth of the grooves forming the scribe lines 4x, 4y, 5x, 5y are changed. That is, the grooves of the scribe lines 4x, 4y provided on the TFT substrate 2 formed with the driver circuit are scribed deeper than the grooves of the scribe lines 5x, 5y provided on the counter substrate 3.
