A process of making a catamenial/tampon product including incorporating a finely divided odor adsorbent material in a solution (14) stored in a tank (12), pumping the solution (14) by means of a pump (16) to an extrusion devi ce (18) disposed in an acid bath (20) contained in a tank (22) and forcing the solution (14) through apertures (24) in the extrusion device (18) to produce fibers (26) which are further processed to form the final product.
