The invention concerns a compound derived from a polysaccharide by chemical modification by at least 5 %, and in particular by about 50 % to about 100 % of the total number of monomer units of said polysaccharide, each of the chemically modified monomer units comprising at least a carbon chain covalently grafted, via a nitrogen atom, to not more than 2 carbon atoms initially engaged respectively, before said chemical modification, into two adjacent alcohol functions borne by each of the monomer units.
