Decorative protection layer system consists of a planar base layer with a reflective layer and a transparent covering layer. The base layer comprises a hardened powder lacquer or a sol-gel having an average thickness of 50-200 microns m. The reflective layer comprises a metal and/or metal compound having a total thickness of 50-1000 nm. The covering layer comprises a graded mixture of silicon dioxide and aluminum oxide having a total thickness of 0.1-10 m.
