A sterilizing device for supplying silver ions to toilet flushing water by electrolysis, which is installed in a closet flushing water supply path to a water closet and is provided with a continuous electrolytic cell having at least a pair of electrodes, at least one electrode containing silver, a flow path formed between the electrodes, and liquid-flow inlet and outlet communicating the flow path, wherein a silver component concentration contained in toilet flushing water is set to at least 1 mu g/L and up to 50 mu g/L so as to provide functions of preventing the deposit of slime on and malodor from the water closet, and also to provide functions of preventing the narrowing of sewage passing path, foul appearance and malodor due to deposit of urinary calculus on a urinal, the blackening of the bowl surface of the water closet being prevented as well.
