Knock detection unit for car engines uses ionisation current detection with correction for leakage due to fuel variation

The knock detector has an ionisation current detector (10) connected to the spark plug (8) and a filter (14A) to extract the knock generated signal from the output signal (Ei) with integrators (16,16A) and a correction unit (25,25A) before the knock detection unit (23) which uses the average value of leakage current.
