PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject low-toxic new compound presenting excellent microtubule polymerization inhibitory action, cell proliferation inhibitory action and metastasis suppressive action, orally or parenterally administrable to mammals, etc., safely, thus useful as a microtubule polymerization inhibitor, cell proliferation inhibitor or metastasis suppressive agent. SOLUTION: This new compound (salt) is expressed by the formula [R<1> is (esterified or amidated) carboxyl; R<2> and R<3> are each oxo, (substituted) OH or H], e.g. 3-acetonyl-2-(6-carboxyl-2,4-dimethyl-1,2,5-hexatrienyl)-4,8,10 trimethylbicyclo [4,4,0] deca-3,5-dien-9-one. The illustrated compound is obtained by culturing in a medium microorganisms belonging to Curvularia having ability to produce the illustrated compound TAN-2342 (e.g. Curvularia lunata) to produce and accumulate the compound in the resultant culture fluid followed by collecting the compound. |
