PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an effective NOx trap using an inexpensive material, instead of expensive and precious platinum. SOLUTION: Regarding a nitrogen oxide arresting trap useful for arresting nitrogen oxide present in exhaust gases generated during the combustion process of an internal combustion engine in a state lacking in fuel, this trap is formed out of a porous support body and a catalyst made of manganese and potassium, and added to the porous support body.
