Recycling colored metals from slag of copper winning comprises reacting the granulated slag with semi-concentrated sulfuric acid, roasting the cake produced at elevated temperature with the SO2 produced being recycled to the sulfuric acid production and treating the roasted material with alkali to recover copper, cobalt and zinc so iron and silicon oxide remain in the residue. Preferred Features: The roasting temperature is 550-750 deg C for 1-4 hours. The treatment with alkali is carried out at the surroundings temperature.
