Mold closing system has stationary and mobile mold frame, distance between frames when molds are closed being adjustable using closing drive by moving slide along guide. Mold closing system, (as described in DE19812741), has a stationary (10) and a mobile (11) mold frame. These enclose a mould closure space (R) allowing molds (M) of different heights, measured in the direction of closure (SS), to be inserted. A drive (D) allows the mobile frame to be moved towards and away from the stationary frame. The drive consists of two sections, one of which rests on a support, the other being attached to the mobile frame, e.g. a hydraulic cylinder (25) and piston rod (26). The frame moves in guides (12) which are in two sections. An adjuster (13) allows the distance (a) between the two frames when the molds are closed to be altered and a second device cooperates with the sections of the guide to maintain this distance when it has been adjusted. This distance can also be independently altered using the drive by moving a slide (14) along a guide. One of the two parts of the drive (D) serves as linear drive for the mobile mold frame.
