<p>A prosthetic liner (210) with a volume and shape for receiving a substantial portion of an amputee's residual limb (10) and fitting in the space between the socket (104) of an artificial limb and the residual limb (10) with the liner (210) donned on the residual limb (10), the liner (210) having a distal portion (212) adjacent the end of the residual limb (10). The liner (210) has a flexible reinforcement member (214) that is attachable to the distal portion to prevent the weight of the artificial limb, acting upon the liner (210), from compressing and stretching the residual limb (10). The reinforcement member (214) preferably has a central portion (216) centrally attached to the distal portion (212) of the liner (210), and a peripheral portion (218) extending radially outwardly from the central portion (216) over the distal portion (212) of the liner (210).</p> |
