VIDEO CODING METHOD FOR A PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL

The invention concerns a novel video coding technique for a plasma display panel, for improving the use of rotating code. The inventive method consists in coding the highest grey tone level (V1) over the whole of the underscans favouring the underscans with the lowest illumination time. The coding of the lowest grey tone level (V2) is carried out by using the common value (COMMAX) derived from coding the value (V1) if the specific value SPEMAX is greater than the difference (D) of the grey tone levels. If SPEMAX is greater than the difference (D), then the coding of the common value COMMIN corresponds to the lowest value (V2).
