The control system for a power switch has a display (13) to show the switch condition to be switched on which is directly affected by the operating parameters. Each parameter works against a reassertion force from the ready to the not-ready position. The display (13) and the coupling (27) work together to shift the coupling into the inoperative setting when the display is moved into the not-ready position.
