The unit includes several input ports (P1-P4) with respectively associated usage elements (B1-B4), several output ports (P5-P8) with respectively associated display elements (A1-A4), and a non-volatile storage (EEPROM) associated with the control unit, esp. integrated in the micro-controller (MC). An external diagnosis unit (D) is associated with the storage over a diagnosis interface (DS). A first storage of the mutual assignment between the usage elements and the input ports and/or between the display elements and the output ports, is performed, according to a control of the external diagnosis unit.
