The sleeper supports an elastically mounted rail. the upper side of the sleeper (1) in the area of the rail has increased thickness (2). The thickening can have acute out extending transversely of the track into which a rail may be placed. Between each rail and the respective cut out are filling inserts (5), which are connected to the sleeper by screws (7). The central axis of the sleeper makes an acute angle (W) with that of the rail. the inserts can be wedge shaped.
