A pipe shut-off valve is enclosed within chamber (7) in a housing (1). The closure component travel is limited by a fixed disc (8) with a central aperture (9) coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the drive unit (5). The component circular, polygonal or two-edged (10) parts of the drive unit do not extend through the aperture. The contours of the aperture are so formed that the drive unit can rotate back and forth between the closed, open and divert positions, each of which incorporates a position-limiting projecting rim.
