PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently insert document elements at the time of operating a document where the document elements are structured into a nesting form. SOLUTION: The document element having a document element name is displayed by detecting a position into which the element can be inserted in the document during compilation based on the document element name inputted at the time of inserting the document element. The insertion possible position is specified by (1) the host document element (name) which possibly contains the document element having the inputted document element name and (2) the position in the host document element. (1) is detected in a step 804 and (2) is detected in a step 807. The detected insertion possible position is displayed by a specified graphic in a step S809. A document generator can edit the document by inserting the document element in a desired position while it is judged whether the document element can be inserted or not into the positions of the specified graphics which are sequentially displayed (processed in the loop of S807-S816), and document editing can be made efficient. |
