ANTHRAQUINONE COMPOUND AND COLORED RESIN MOLDING COMPOSITION USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound excellent in transmissivity and durability such as heat resistance and light resistance, having high coloring ability to synthetic resins and useful as a blue dye. SOLUTION: This compound is an anthraquinone compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are each a 1-3C alkyl; R3 is a 4-8C alkyl). The compound of formula I can be obtained e.g. by condensing 2,3-dihydro-1,4-dihydroxianthraquinone of formula II with an aniline derivative of formula III in the presence of boric acid and oxidizing the resultant. The consumed quantity of the aniline derivative of formula III is 2-10 molar equivalent preferably 4-7 molar equivalent. The compound of formula I is preferably used as a blue dye for resin-coloring and is compounded in thermoplastic resins such as polystyrene or polyester or coated on the surface of the resin moldings to form a coating film.
