PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element transfer device capable of transferring the element fed from an element feed device side to a latter process side after positioning the elements accurately and speedily and capable of performing an identification inspection of the elements from the underside. SOLUTION: This device is so formed that the element A fed from a part feeder 1 side are sucked by a retractable suction nozzle 12 to allow the elements to abut on an element holding portion B in a specified posture, the suction nozzle 12 is moved backward so that a sucking operation is released for the elements A, and the elements A held in the specified posture in the state not being sucked by the element holding portion B is sucked by the suction nozzle to transfer the elements to the latter process side. Thus, even when ON/OFF by an air valve for performing the sucking operation cannot be performed in time, the elements A can be transferred surely and speedily.
