PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a scale of which the temperament at the time of modulation does not fail, like just intonation, by more approximating a diatonic scale part to the just intonation and enhancing the consonant characteristic of the interval of major third and perfect fifth. SOLUTION: If the interval obtd. by equally dividing the interval of one octave to 1200 is defined as 1 cent and if the number of the cents of the major second interval is defined as X, the interval 2X of the major third is specified to 279 cents<X<=393 cents. If the diatonic scalar semitone is defined as Y, Y=(1200-5X)/2 is specified. If the interval of the perfect fifth is defined as Z5, Z5=3X+Y is specified. If the interval of the perfect fourth is defined as Z4, Z4=2X+Y is specified. The temperament is thus attained only at the diatonic scale, by which the diatonic scale parts are more approximated to the just intonation. |
