摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly crystalline shape-fixed cellulose material having improved heat-resistance, elasticity and strength without using chemicals, etc., by compressing a cellulose material in a high-temperature high-pressure steam atmosphere. SOLUTION: A cellulose material, preferably natural cellulose fiber, its powder or regenerated cellulose powder or its powder is compressed in a high- temperature high-pressure steam atmosphere. Preferably, the temperature of the steam is 120-200 deg.C, the compression pressure is 0.5-50 MPa and the objective material is produced by contacting the cellulose material with liquid ammonia, compressing in a high-temperature high-pressure steam atmosphere and fixing the shape. For example, the contact with the ammonia is carried out by the immersion coating, vapor spraying, etc., of ammonia water having a concentration of about 1.5-2.0% and the cellulose material is preferably a sliver of thick fiber bundle, etc.
