PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device with the simple structure capable of containing a pickup roller and a sensor lever at upper waiting positions when installing a paper feeding cassette. SOLUTION: In this recording device, an arm 20 holding a pickup roller 6 and a sensor lever 12 are held by a shaft 16 freely to be turned and so as to be lowered with dead weight to a position for contact with a recording paper 3, and a lock lever 30 provided with a lock lever part 30b for locking the arm 20 and the sensor lever 12 while turning them to the upper waiting positions is held freely to be turned in the condition that the lock lever part 30b is held by a spring at a position turned over. When a paper feeding cassette 4 is inserted, a lock lever canceling guide 34 formed in the paper feeding cassette 4 turns an operation lever part 30c of the lock lever 30 so as to turn the operation lever part 30c downward, and the pickup roller 6 and the sensor lever 12 locked at the waiting positions can be lowered by dead weight onto the recording paper.
