PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printer and printing method in which an ink tape carrying ink is protected against fine crease or scratch after printing. SOLUTION: An ink tape T having an ink layer 31 on the surface and a tape R having a layer to be transferred with ink from the ink tape T are used. The ink tape T is placed on the platen 26 side and the tape R is placed on the print head 81 side and transfer printing is carried out by driving the print head 81.
