PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate regulation of the friction force of a base isolation mechanism. SOLUTION: A base isolation device 11 comprises first and second linear bearing mechanisms 14 and 16 to guide a frame 12 in X-and Y-directions; and first and second base isolation mechanism 18 and 20. The first and second base isolation mechanisms 18 and 20 comprise slide plates 36 and 37 fixed on a floor 22; a slide support leg 38 making slidable contact with the slide plate 36; a rolling support leg 40 making slidable contact with the slide plate 37; a spring 42 for return to return the slide support leg 38 to an origin; and a spring 43 for return to return the rolling support plate 40 to an origin. In the base isolation mechanism 18 where slid support leg 38 and the rolling support leg 40, which are different in a friction factor, are combined together, by regulating the spring constant of the coil spring of the rolling support leg 40, a total friction force is set to a value matching with the mass of a body to be base-isolated by utilizing a difference in a friction fact between the slide support leg 38 and the rolling support leg 40.
