PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pavement marking applying apparatus which can always draw a variety of markings formed of lines with clear boundaries and a stable width on a road surface in any road conditions and in any environment, has a simple structure, and is easily manufactured. SOLUTION: There is provided a pavement marking applying apparatus which is constituted of a truck and a coating unit 2 attached to the truck. The apparatus is operated such that the applying unit 2 rotates an applying roller 7 to allow a paint to flow downward like a curtain, where by the paint is applied to a road surface GL with a predetermined width. In this case, in order to hold the painting roller at a predetermined height Hc above the road surface, a pair of side plates 8 are provided at least at a location under the applying roller, in a manner being in parallel with each other on both sides of the applying roller along a moving direction while being in contact with the road surface.
