摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an olefinic living polymer which has a narrow mol.wt. distribution and can be converted into terminal-functional polymers and the like by polymerizing a specific olefinic monomer in the presence of a specified catalyst at a specific higher polymerization temperature. SOLUTION: This method for producing the olefinic living polymer comprises polymerizing a 2 to 20C olefinic monomer (for example, 2-methyl-1-pentene) at a polymerization temperature of -20 to -100 deg.C in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) a zirconium-containing compound having one or two cyclopentadienyl skeletons (for example, biscyclopentadienyl zirconium hydride chloride), (B) (i)a borane compound of the formula: B(Ph)3 [Ph is (substituted) phenyl] or (ii) a borate compound of the formula: B-(Ph)4X+ (X+ is a cation), and (C) a titanium-containing compound such as pentamethylcyclopentadienyl titanium trichloride.
