PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and composition effective in melanine production, capable of being used for pigmentation to bleach, decolorize or blacken the skin and imparting changes in pigmentation in the skin. SOLUTION: This method for imparting changes to pigmentation in the skin of a mammal is to administer an effective amount of a Bowman-Birk inhibitor(BBI) or a BBI-containing natural extract to the mammal, or administer the effective amount of BBI for bleaching the pigmentation or the BBI- containing natural extract to the mammal.
