PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the yield of a material and accuracy of press working and to prolong the life of a die by executing the positioning of the die with high accuracy by demounting guide posts after executing the positioning of both an upper die and lower die with the guide posts on which retainers are fit and which are freely attachable and detachable. SOLUTION: Guide bushes 21 are fit into and fixed to the die set 27 of the upper die and guide bushes 22 are fit into and fixed to the die set 28 of the lower die. By inserting the upper part and lower part of vertically symmetrical guide posts 30 into the guide bushes 21, 22 through the retainers 23, 24 which are subjected to compression, the setting of the upper die and lower die is executed. The retainers 23, 24 are held in a prescribed position by being energized with springs 25, 26 and, in this state, the dies are rigidly fixed to the main body of the press with clamps 29. After that, the upper die and lower die of the main body of the press are opened and the guide posts 30, springs 25 and retainers 23, 24 are demounted.
