TOILET LID DETECTING DEVICE AND HEATED TOILET SEAT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save the electric power required for a heated toilet seat by detecting the standing action, etc., of a toilet seat by means of a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: A low tank cover 2 is installed on the upper surface of the rear of the bowl 1a of a toilet stool 1 and a stool seat 3 and a toilet lid 4 are rotatably installed in place. A small piece 8 made of a conductor such as metal or carbon or a magnetic substance such as a normal magnet is embedded in the toilet lid 4. A sensor 9 such as a variable capacitance type sensor or a reed switch is provided on the back of the front face of the low tank cover 2 in such a way as to approach the small piece 8 when the toilet lid 4 is upstanding. A power-saving mode in which a lower temperature is set for heating of the stool seat 3 by a heater 5 is initiated on detection of closure of the toilet lid 4.
